Graduate Reading Program

 

Reading Endorsement ONLY
(for students with a Masters in education or minimum 12 approved graduate hours in education PLUS two years contracted K-12 teaching experience)

 

Students who already have a master’s degree in education may qualify for a Nebraska Reading Endorsement by successfully completing the 5 required courses (15 hours) plus one literacy-related elective listed below. 

 

Required (15 hours):

TED 9100  Theories and Processes of Reading
TED 9110   Principles & Practices for Teaching Reading
TED 9130  (formerly 9190) Applications of Literacy Evaluation & Instruction
TED 9140  (formerly 9120) Assessment & Instruction Secondary Readers
TED 9180  Seminar in Research in Reading

 

Content Elective (3 hours).  Choose ONE:

TED 8470  Language Arts in the Elementary School
TED 8650  Children's Literature & Education
TED 8660  Young Adult Literature & Education
(or another literacy elective approved by advisor)
