The elementary special education major is designed to prepare candidates to meet Nebraska requirements for an elementary special education mildly/moderately disabled as a stand alone endorsement. |

Field Experience: |
All elementary special education candidates must meet the state licensure standard of a minimum of 100 hours of classroom experience prior to student teaching. Field experiences are embedded in identified professional courses. |
Student Teaching: |
The student teaching experience is an all day all semester experience in metropolitan area schools. Student teaching is the capstone experience. During this experience, candidates will complete the EECIA. |
Course Requirements: |
A minimum of 125 credit hours and a mimimum GPA of 2.5 is required to graduate from the College of Education. The required coursework for an elementary education major is divided into three areas: General Education, Professional Core, and Mildly/Moderately Disabled Professional Course Work. |
