Procedures for Formal Acceptance
to The Educational Interpreter Preparation Track

All students interested in becoming educational interpreters must formally apply for admission to the Educational Interpreter Preparation Track. Admission is selective. Applications will be reviewed by the Admission Review Committee.

PRE-APPLICATION

The following requirements must be met prior to submitting an application for formal admission to educational interpreter preparation.

• Admission to UNO
• Completion of the General Education, Fundamental Skills requirements (ENGL 1150, ENGL 1160, MATH 1310, SPCH 1110, or their equivalents) and EDUC 2020 and EDUC 2030 (or their equivalents).  Note:  Students may apply for admission in the semester in which they take EDUC 2020 and EDUC 2030.  If a student is accepted, both courses must be completed with a grade of C- or better before acceptance into the educational interpreter preparation track will be official.
• A minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or better for both University of Nebraska at Omaha and other institutions.
• Passing scores on all sections of the Pre-Professional Skills Test (PPST).

The official PPST scores must be on file in the College of Education Office of Student Services at the time of application. Plans should be made to take the test at least two months in advance of the application deadline.

** NOTE: If the deadline falls on a weekend, applications are due the preceding business day.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

All application materials must be submitted together as a packet. All forms and information needed to prepare the application packet are available by clicking on the links below.

Please Note: Follow the directions on the Application Checklist. Two copies of the application packet must be submitted by the indicated deadline. Only complete packets will be forwarded to the review committee. Incomplete packets will be returned to the student.

  • TO OBTAIN A COPY OF YOUR UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT:
  • Go to E-Bruno and login as you would register for classes. [http://ebruno.unomaha.edu]
  • On the left hand side, seven items down, click on View Unofficial Transcript.
  • Select either “Undergraduate” or “Graduate” click on the request button.
  • Click the print icon at the top of the screen in the toolbar and the complete unofficial transcript will print.

• Students are required to attend the Teacher Preparation Orientation after acceptance into the EIP Track. The date of the orientation will be provided at the time the application is submitted. Attendance is mandatory.
