Early Childhood Education (ECE)
Program Application Information Sheet

Phase I – Application packet deadline: March 1 or October 1

A complete ECE APPLICATION PACKET includes:

• Completed Early Childhood Education Program Application form (below).
• A letter of application (not to exceed 3 pages, doubled spaced, using 12 point font) which includes:
  • your reasons for applying,
  • career goals,
  • personal commitment to teaching young students between 0 and 8 years.
• A personal resume detailing your educational and work background.
• Two letters of recommendation from professionals who can attest to the quality of your work (paid and/or volunteer), interest in, and/or potential for effectively working with young children in early childhood settings.

All materials are to be submitted to Teacher Education, KH 522, by the due date indicated above.

Phase II – Review Process

ECE Program applications will be reviewed for:

• demonstration of professional commitment to young children and their families
• demonstration of professional commitment to early childhood education
• potential for successful completion of ECE coursework

Phase III – Registration for classes

• All applicants accepted into the ECE Program will be notified within 30 days.
• ECE teacher candidates selected will see advisors to establish a long-term plan of study.
