Procedures for Formal Acceptance
To Undergraduate
Speech-Language Pathology Program
Candidates interested in becoming speech-language pathologists (SLPs) must formally apply for admission to the pre-professional preparation program. Admission is selective. Application for admission and acceptance into the program is required for continuation in preparation to become an SLP. Applications will be reviewed by an Admission Review Committee.
Minimum Requirements for Applying
The following requirements must be met when submitting an application for formal admission to the undergraduate speech-language pathology program
- Admission to UNO and the College of Education.
- Completion of a minimum of 30 credit hours including all of the General Education Fundamental Skills requirements (ENGL 1150, ENGL 1160, MATH 1310, SPCH 1110) and EDUC 2020, Educational Foundations, and EDUC 2030, Human Relations, or SPED 4550, Special Needs Students from Diverse Communities with a grade of C- or higher.
- A minimum cumulative (UNO plus other institutions, if any) GPA of 2.8 or better.
- Passing scores on all sections of the Pre-Professional Skills Test (PPST). PPST information can be found at http://coe.unomaha.edu/oss/ppstinfo.php.
- Completion of a speech, language, and hearing screening at UNO.
- Completion of the following speech-language pathology courses: SPED 1400, Introduction to Communication Disorders, SPED 4380, Speech Science I: Speech Mechanisms, SPED 4420, Early Language Development, with a minimum GPA of 3.0 for these courses.
The official PPST scores must be on file in the College of Education Office of Student Services at the time of application. Plans should be made to take the test at least two months in advance of the application deadline.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES
All application materials must be submitted together as a packet. All forms and information needed to prepare the application packet are available by clicking on the links below.
Please Note: Follow the directions on the Application Checklist. Review of applications occurs within 2-3 weeks of the deadline. Notification of acceptance comes from the College of Education Office of Student Services. This will include information on the mandatory Teacher Preparation Orientation. Only complete packets will be forwarded to the review committee. Incomplete packets will be returned to the student.

- On the left hand side, seven items down, click on View Unofficial Transcript.
- Select either “Undergraduate” or “Graduate” click on the request button.
- Click the print icon at the top of the screen in the toolbar and the complete unofficial transcript will print.
