|
Description: |
The middle grades education program is designed to prepare candidates to meet Nebraska certification requirements for a middle grades education (4-9) level teaching certificate, with endorsement options in mathematics, natural science, world language, social science, and language arts. A minimum of 125 credit hours and a mimimum GPA of 2.75 is required to graduate from the College of Education. The required coursework for a middle grades major is divided into four areas: General Education, Professional Core, Related Content Courses, Middle Grades Core, and Endorsement Areas. |
Advising: |
Information on the website is provided for your convenience; however it does not replace meeting with an academic advisor. To schedule an academic advising appointment for initial teacher certification programs contact Donna Shearer at dshearer@unomaha.edu. |
Field Experience: |
All middle grades candidates must meet the state licensure standard of a minimum of 100 hours of classroom experience prior to student teaching. Field experiences are embedded in identified professional courses. |
Student Teaching: |
The student teaching experience is an all day all semester experience in metropolitan area schools. Student teaching is the capstone experience. |
