
Sue Selde is, and always has been a part-time faculty member who appears to work full
time. She is a full-time wife and mother of four. Beginning in 1987,
Susan has taught Aerobics, Fitness for Living, and Exercise Leader Practicum for
the School of HPER. She has also lectured in the ACSM workshop and
taught courses for the Dept. of Special Education and Communication Disorders
and the Dept. of Teacher Education.
Susan's
philosophy is to place students first. She values each student's talents
and is enthusiastic about them. One of her supporters wrote, "Sue has
been a mentor to many students over the years. She obviously enjoys
working with students and they greatly enjoy being around her."
Another wrote, "One observation I've made informally is her interactions
with students during office hours. She gives her time generously and is
very personal with students. I sense that they are comfortable discussing
problems with her and in return she gives them quality time and advice."

Tom Frette is
the Head Trainer in the Training Room at the Field House. He received his
Bachelor of Arts from the University of Northern Iowa in 1986 and his Master's
of Arts from UNO in 1989. He joined UNO as a graduate assistant athletic
trainer in 1987 and was appointed head athletic trainer in 1997. Tom was
very active in the renovation of the athletic training facility.
One
of those nominating Mr. Frette for this award wrote, "Mr. Frette is a very
passionate teacher who shares his experiences as an athletic trainer with
students through stories, hands on teaching and by example. He fosters
creative thinking in his students and is a tremendous role model."
Another wrote, "He is well organized and knowledgeable and devotes countless
hours to the athletic training program."
