The Moving Company

Connections at the Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery

Friday, July 13,  5:00-7:00p.m.,
Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery
Lincoln, NE

Sheldon Connections is the museum's innovative new program for regional artists. The opening will feature live improvised sound and music by the Mighty Vitamins, interactive elements in each exhibit and a public reception for the artists. Josie Metal-Corbin, as a recent Nebraska Arts Council award recipient, and the Moving Company were invited to perform at the opening of the exhibition.

"This is a unique opportunity for The Moving Company because the Sheldon rarely hosts dance in the gallery," Metal-Corbin said. "I am excited to be creating a piece in response to Jamie Burmeister's interactive art installation."

Arrhytmy is an interactive kinetic sound installation that explores the artist's "Want of Rhythm." Artist Jamie Burmeister received a bachelor's degree in exercise science from Creighton University in 1992, a master's degree in health education from UNO in 1995 and a master of fine arts degree in sculpture from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) in 2005.

The opening reception was from 5:00-7:00 p.m. The Moving Company also performed outside the Sheldon with The Mighty Vitamins, an eclectic musical trio whose work has been described as "a set of music just waiting to have a cartoon accompaniment." (Brainwashed.com)
