Fitness for Life Program
This is a year round program excluding times when the University is closed and on some student holidays. Individuals can join at any time of the year and don't have to be affiliated with the University. Payment is in three month increments. After first three months you have the option to purchase an additional 3 months or 9 months at a discount. A discount is available for University, faculty, staff, and students.

MISSION STATEMENT
To educate and motivate participants on how to incorporate exercise in their lives so that they may live a healthier life.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
This program was developed to provide an individual exercise program to the participant with periodic fitness evaluation. This class is ideal for people who want to start exercising or may be already exercise and want learn more about creating a complete exercise program. This program is open to the general public. The program is available for non-University persons but their access to the HPER Building will be limited to specific times of the day.
HOW IT WORKS
- Each participant is assigned to an individual instructor for personal guidance and individual attention.
- Each participant's pre and post fitness levels are evaluated using a comprehensive fitness testing battery every three months.
- Each participant goes through an initial counseling session with an instructor to develop an individual training program. This program is incorporated into the participant's life and schedule so that they can attain their fitness goals.
- Each participant is given one-on-one training sessions to familiarize the participant with proper exercise technique, equipment, and facilities that have been assigned for the participant in their individual training program.
- Each participant is given a monthly session with an instructor to evaluate the participant's individual training program and make changes as needed to insure proper progression.
- Instructors are available to answer questions.
FITNESS TESTING
When you join the program, and every three months, you have the option of going through a series of fitness tests to monitor your progress. This includes measures of body composition, aerobic capacity, muscular fitness, flexibility, and social/psychological measures related to fitness.
THE INSTRUCTORS
This class is instructed by graduate assistants in the Exercise Physiology Lab. These students are pursuing their Master's degree in exercise science.
