Graduate laboratory assistants are usually hired for 2 academic years during their graduate program. If you are interested in applying for a position or would like more information, contact Dr. Kris Berg. Please use the scroll down option to get to know our current Graduate Assistant team, Pallav, Amanda and Robert.
Pallav DekaPallav comes from the state of Assam which is located in the North-Eastern part of India. This is his first year as a Graduate Assistant in the Exercise Physiology Lab. He earned his undergrad degree (Bachelor in Commerce) from Gauhati University with a major in Management in 2001. He then earned his Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) from All India Management Association (AIMA) specializing in Human Resource Management in 2005. Being a former International Badminton Player and having represented his State for continuously 16 years in various categories and age level, it was natural that he wanted to do something related to Sports. His inquisitiveness to learn about the functioning of the human body is what brought him to UNO. He feels that everyday is bringing him new learning experiences and with the Lab having a research outlook has helped him gain more practical experiences. Pallav however feels that the best thing about Omaha is its people and has been greatly touched by the warmth and love he and his family have received here. Pallav is currently the President of the UNO Badminton Club.
Amanda FletcherAmanda is a first year graduate student working on her master's in Exercise Science. She is originally from Auburn, Nebraska. Amanda recieved her Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science in 2007 from Nebraska Wesleyan University. She has previously coached middle school cross country and track and has done some volunteeringwiththe Special Olympics. She is also a member of the Omaha Running Club and enjoys running and finding new ways to be active.
Robert JacobsRobert is a first year graduate student pursuing a master's in Exercise Science. Robert recieved his Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science in May of 2009 from Kennesaw State University in Georgia. In his free time he enjoys checking out Omaha's bike trails. There is no better way to learn you way around a cnew city then from the saddle of your bike.
