What is AFP?

The Alliance of Fitness Professionals (AFP) is a student organization whose members are graduate and undergraduate students in the School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation (HPER) at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.  AFP was introduced in the summer of 2001 and is the product of a merge between the previous student chapters of Phi Epsilon Kappa (PEK) and the Association for Worksite Health Promotion (AWHP).

PEK is a national professional fraternity for persons engaged in or pursuing careers in health, physical education, recreation or safety.

AWHP was an international organization made up of professionals such as health promotion directors and managers, exercise specialists, health educators, consultants, nutritionists, occupational health nurses, and human resource/employee benefits personnel.

Mission Statement

Student members of AFP are given the opportunity to work on local projects, develop and grow personally and professionally, and network with other professionals and students at the local, regional and national levels.
