THE CADRE PROJECT

CADRE is: Career

Developing Quality Educators Through a Collaborative Effort of Growth and Renewal

Experienced Teachers

The CADRE Project is a nationally recognized program designed to assist newly certified teachers with challenges unique to entry into the profession of education.  CADRE Teachers have an opportunity to complete a master's degree through a sequence of coursework and field components.

Central to program efforts is the exchange of services made possible by placing fully licensed CADRE Teachers in classrooms throughout the participating districts.

Selected classroom teachers work as CADRE Associates and are involved in classroom support roles, district designated roles, and university-related work.

The project is coordinated through the Metropolitan Omaha Educational Consortium (MOEC).  MOEC members include:

Bellevue Public Schools
Bennington Public Schools
Council Bluffs Community Schools
Douglas County West Community Schools

The CADRE Project was selected by the U.S. Department of Education as an exemplary program in "Promising Practices: New ways to Improve Teacher Quality," September, 1998 and received the "Christa McAuliffe Award for Excellence in Teacher Education" in September, 2003 from the American Association of State Colleges and Universities.
